NSW police say they have smashed a drug syndicate operating in Sydney and Lake Macquarie, seizing a $2 million haul of ecstasy, ice, cocaine links of london charms, heroin and cannabis
The raids also uncovered explosives, jewellery and precious stones worth many thousands of dollars, plus almost $50,000 in cash links of london sale.
Six people have been charged after police last night swooped on homes in Balmain, in Sydney’s inner west, and at Belmont, south of Newcastle.
Officers found most of the drugs and the explosives at a Birchgrove Road home in Balmain links of london.
Police said they found 9kg of ecstasy, 5kg of cannabis, 1kg of cocaine, 145g of heroin, plus jewellery and precious stones suspected of being stolen.
The bomb squad were called to remove the explosives and detonators links of london items.
Police in Lake Macquarie seized 500g of ice and a further 5kg of cannabis in a co-ordinated raid on a Haig Street home in Belmont.
Officers also found $48,000 cash on the property, police said.
Assistant Commissioner Catherine Burn said the raids were the culmination of a six-month investigation.
“We, basically, have smashed a very large drug distribution network both in Lake Macquarie and in Sydney,” Ms Burn said.
